How to Turn off Youtube Annotations

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

Annotations on Youtube, if used correctly, can be pretty helpful, especially with giving you links to some referenced videos, or guiding you through a multipart series in order. Unfortunately, a lot of people abuse the annotation feature, and the video player just becomes a mess of pop ups that are always blocking the important part of the video. Luckily, annotations can be turned off by default on Youtube in your account, so then if there is a time you want to see them, you can just enable them by going to the gear on the Youtube video player, and checking the annotations option.

To turn off annotations by default, you first just need to log into your Youtube account. Once logged in, click on the account button at the top right (the little circle icon with your Youtube image in it), and then click the gear, shown in the image below:

Youtube select settings

Next, under the account settings on the left, choose the option for Playback.

select playback tab

Once in the Playback submenu, you’ll see in the center “Show annotations and in-video notifications”. Just deselect the check mark next to it on the left, and annotations will be disabled by default on Youtube videos!

Deselect Annotations

Unfortunately, many people have warned that this setting sometimes “forgets” to be selected (probably usually when browser cookies are deleted, or the browser is updated), which is annoying because it really should be tied to the account rather than the internet browser. But, if this does happen to you that annotations start showing up even though you deselected them in your profile, go and check that the box is still deselected.

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

This video shows how to find the operating system version of a Windows phone. The phone in the video is a Nokia Lumia 521 running Windows 8.0.

First, go to the home screen, and swipe left. This will bring up the App list.

In the App list, scroll down until you see an option for Settings. You can also search for Settings using the search bar at the top. Then select the Settings option.

In the Settings window, scroll down 2/3 of the way until you see an option for About (It will say Windows Phone under it). Select this option.

The About screen shows specifications for your phone, including the phone model, and the operating system version. The phone in the video was shown to be a Nokia Lumia 521 with the Windows 8.0 operating system.

The newest operating system available from Microsoft is the Windows 8.1 opearting system. This phone does not allow upgrading to 8.1, which makes many Apps from the App store unable to be installed. So the highest operating system available is an important piece of information when looking for a new phone.

How to Get Free Google Play Credit on an Android Phone or Tablet

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

This video will show you how to get free Google play credit on an Android phone or tablet, that you can spend on anything in the Google play store. This allows you to buy apps, games, music, TV shows, anything from the Google Play store.

All you need to get the free credit, is an app from the play store that you install on your Android device, called Google Opinion Rewards. This app provides you with questions to answer, and then pays you when you finish the questions. Some of the quizzes are as short as 2 questions and take about 10 seconds, and some are longer and require a couple of minutes to answer, but the longer quizzes will provide you with more free credit.

The questions are mostly based on brand awareness, so like asking if you if you have heard of things like Tide laundry detergent, or if you have recently watched HBO. The most personal questions it asks you are in the initial setup survey.

When you initially set it up, it will ask for some semi-personal information, but after the initial set up the questions are much less personal.

Surveys that give you free Google Play credit will pop up a couple of times a week, and you will have 24 hours from the time the survey appears to answer it.

The credit comes directly from Google, and the app is right from Google as well, and it has worked great for me so far. If you have any issues or comments, leave them below.

How to prepare meals ahead of time

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

You can only succeed if you prepare yourself for success. Therefore, it is very important to plan ahead when it comes to eating so you don’t find yourself looking for quick meals which typically end up being unhealthy. Having a whole days worth of meals ready ahead of time makes for healthier eating habits and it is a lot easier than eating on the go. There are three steps to having meals for the week ahead of you; plan meals, prepare meals, follow through.

Plan Meals:

When planning meals it is important to think ahead about what you might be doing that week and at what times it is best to eat. It is a lot easier for someone who eats breakfast at home to have a healthy meal than it is for someone who is on the go if no planning is involved. Then if you find that you’ll be away from home until it’s time for dinner then it is necessary to bring your meals for the day with you. Once you return home from a days work it may be easier to have a premade meal waiting in the freezer or it may make more sense for you to cook once you get home. Decisions like this depend on personal preference. So, first things first, make a plan. Here is an example:

Meal 1: 1/2 cup oatmeal, 3 eggs

Meal 2: Greek yogurt w/ 1/4 cup granola

Meal 3: Salad, 1/2 cup grilled chicken, balsamic vinegar

Meal 4: 1 Apple with 2 tbsp peanut butter

Meal 5: 1/2 cup brown rice, 4 oz steak, 1/2 cup broccoli

For someone who has time to make breakfast at home before starting the day oatmeal and eggs is a simple and healthy breakfast. For someone who is on the go around breakfast time it would be easier to pack a protein shake or a homemade granola bar. As for the other meals, they are easy to have ready ahead of time. So, for the meals that do need preparing, you need to decide what would be the best day to get them ready depending on the week ahead. If you work a Monday through Friday job preparing meals on Sunday would make sense to get you through the week. If you work a schedule that is three days on and three off then you should prepare meals on your last day off. It all comes down to finding what works best for you.

Prepare Meals:

At this point you should have figured out a plan of meals for the week. If you don’t mind eating relatively the same thing all week then it will be easy to figure portions. Using the meal plan above, here is an example on how to prepare a week of meals for someone who works Monday through Friday, eats breakfast and dinner at home, and all other meals on the go. First of all, the breakfast takes no planning ahead beyond knowing you have 2 1/2 cups of oatmeal and 15 eggs. Simply multiply the amount of food you need for one day by 5 to get the amount you’ll need for the week. So you would want 5 yogurts, 1 1/4 cups granola, 5 apples, etc. Once you have the portions needed it is time to prepare the food. The meals that need prep aside from just measuring are meal 3, 4, and 5. Meal 3 of salad with grilled chicken and balsamic would be prepared by cooking chicken ahead of time by grilling or baking it then dividing it between 5 containers that have salad ingredients inside. Other than that all you need to do would be to bring the dressing with you. Meal 4 only requires cutting up the apple which would be better to do every morning or not until you are ready to eat it. Measuring the peanut butter is also part of the prep stage. Finally, meal 5 requires the rice and steak to be cooked ahead of time. Once they are done they should be portioned out between 5 containers then the broccoli (frozen) can be added. The rice, steak, and broccoli can be refrigerated or frozen depending on preference. Once this is all complete all that needs to be done is the follow through.

Follow through:

Making time for breakfast is the first step for being successful. The second step is leaving the house with the food you need for the day. Pack meals 2-4 in a lunchbox and eat them at least 3 hours apart throughout the day. Then once you return home have your dinner before 7pm to avoid eating too late. The follow through stage is the hardest for people to get through either because they are forgetful and leave food at home or because they crave something else and divert from the plan. If you fight those craving and save them for your cheat meal you will find it easy to get into a routine that becomes second nature.

So to sum it up, all you have to do is plan, prepare, and follow through. Whether your goal is to save money on groceries, lose weight, eat healthier, or just to make your life easier, these three steps will help you accomplish that goal.

Cool Magic Card Trick 1: Is This Your Card?

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

This is a very cool easy magic trick that anyone can do, and depending on how good you are, you can add or take off the sleight of hand at the end of the trick. I will walk you through this card trick step by step.

The first step is to separate out 15 cards from a normal deck of cards. These can be any cards accept the jokers, even the jokers if you really wanted.

Hold up the 15 cards to the person you are performing the trick for. Ask them to memorize a card that you are holding. They don’t have to touch the card or take it out or anything, they just havwe to remember any of the cards.

Next, lay the cards down on the table in three rows of five. Then pick up each row of five, and ask the person if their card is in that pile. When they say their card is in that pile, put that pile on top of the deck of 15 cards. You now know that their card is one of the top 5 cards.

The next step is to lay the cards out in three rows again, but this time you have to lay out the cards so that the first row has 2 cards out of the five at the top, the next row has two more, and the last row has 1. This makes it so that if the person says their card is in the first row, you know it is one of the top two cards in that row, if they say it is in the second row, then you know it is one of the top two cards in that row, and if they say it’s in the third row, you know their card is the top one in that row.

If their card is in the first two rows, you will have to repeat the last step once more, where you put one of the possibles at the top of the first row, and the other possible at the top of the second row. If their card was in the last row, then you know their card is the top card in that row, and can go to the next step without putting out rows again.

Now that you know which card is theirs, you have to present it to them in a cool way. If you really want to at this point, you can just flip the card over and say, “Is this your card?”, but that’s not a very good performance.

The first part of the big reveal, is to get the audience involved. Give them a choice so that they feel they’ve affected the outcome, when they really haven’t. At this point you have the stack of 15 cards, where you know which card belongs to the person. I usually put it as the sixth card in the deck, but putting the last pile that they said their card is in between the other two piles. I then lay the cards out to look kind of like a person, where there is a card in the center, and then a corner of each of the other four cards touching a corner of the card in the center. Make sure to remember which card is theirs while putting them down, so that you remember when you pick them back up.

Then give the person a choice. Tell them to choose two piles. If they choose the pile that their card is in along with another, get rid of the third pile. If they choose the two piles without their card, get rid of those two piles. This will make the person feel even more amazed by your trick, because they think they have affected it.

After this, put their card in the center of the cards that are left. Make sure to practice this part, so that you can do it without them noticing. It’s good strategy to distract them with talking or pointing at the pile that you threw away while doing this. Make sure to leave their card sticking out a bit, so that you can clamp it with you pointer finger and middle finger more firmly than the other cards for the next step.

For the big reveal, hold their card tight while holding the other cards more loosely, the KARATE CHOP the pile. Do it in as extreme a way as you can, really surprise them if possible. With your karate chop make sure to be holding their card very tightly so the other cards fly out of your hand but that one remains.

This last step with the karate chop is completely optional, and is just there for embellishment. If you can think of a better way to end the trick, try it out. The last step is really about wowing them, so if you can light the pile of cards on fire somehow, where it burns all but their card, then go for it, those are the type of things that really make a trick spectacular.

At this point, flip their card over and ask, “Is this your card?”

If someone asks, “How did you do that?” DO NOT show them. It will ruin the trick and will leave you with less people to perform for. Magic is a lot more fun when it’s mysterious, so it’s better for both of you to keep it a secret. They can research it on their own if they’re really interested.

How to find the Android Version of an Android Phone or Tablet

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

This video will show you how to find the Android version of any android device. There are a several different versions including Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwhich, and Jelly Bean. In the newer versions, you can tap on the Android version number a few times (as shown at the end of the video) and it will show you what the name of the operating system is, but I don’t think it workss before Ginger Bread, so it might not work on an older android device.

The basic steps are to go to your phone’s home screen, hit the menu button (beside the home button usually) and choose system settings. On the screen that pops up, scroll all the way to the bottom, and choose the “About Phone” option. On the next screen that pops up, choose the “Software Information” option. This will bring you to a last screen where at the top it will say “Android Version” with the Android Version number right below it. In newer Android Operating systems (3.0 and above) if you tap on the android version a bunch of times quickly, it will pop up with a picture the Android Robot decorated as your operating system.

How to take a Screenshot on an Android Phone or Tablet

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

This video will show you how to take a screenshot on any android device you have, as long as it is running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwhich) or above. If you have an android device with before 4.0, you will have to use an app to take screenshots. One of the apps for this would be No Root Screenshot It.

Basically all you have to do to take the screenshot in Android 4.0 and above, is hold down the down volume button, and the power button together for about a second. The device will then take a screenshot and save it to a screenshots folder in your phones gallery.
